Marc J. Schniederjans and Stephen B. LeGrand believe that just like products and services, supply chains have lifecycles. In their new book, Reinventing the Supply Chain Life Cycle: Strategies and Methods for Analysis and Decision Making, they explore how to manage products and services throughout these complex cycles. According to the publisher, it is the first book to systematically address every stage of the supply chain lifecycle, from initiation through growth, maturity, and decline.

The book examines the process of starting, creating, and building new supply chains. Among the subjects addressed are: aligning the product and service lifecycles, managing changing risk, and discontinuing unsatisfactory supplier relationships. The book also features interviews with top supply chain executives at such companies as Coca-Cola, Home Depot, and Office Depot.

Schniederjans is a professor of business management at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. LeGrand is the vice president of global operations for the Irrigation Division of Valmont Industries Inc.

Published by FT Press, the hardcover edition of Reinventing the Supply Chain Life Cycle: Strategies and Methods for Analysis and Decision Making (ISBN-13: 9780132963879) sells for $89.99.
