Transforming supply chain management to achieve operational excellence is a mandate for many companies, but it's a complex, challenging process. A new book, Supply Chain Transformation: Practical Roadmap to Best Practice Results, helps readers get started on that journey.

In a conversational style incorporating real-world cases and illustrations, author Richard J. Sherman offers a step-by-step road map to transforming a supply chain to become a best-practices leader and achieve a competitive advantage. Along the way, he offers guidance on how to make the case for change and build a business case, and offers advice on creating a process-improvement culture.

The book covers such areas as sourcing, production, and the integration of logistics with product development, marketing, sales, and finance processes. It also addresses the role of emerging technologies such as radio frequency identification (RFID), cloud computing, telematics, global positioning systems, and big-data analysis.

Sherman, a 30-year veteran in the supply chain field, currently is president of Gold & Domas Research. In addition, he serves as director of strategic development for the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP).

Published by John Wiley & Sons Inc., the hardcover edition of Supply Chain Transformation: Practical Roadmap to Best Practice Results sells for $60.00. It is also available as an e-book.
