With so much of the world's manufacturing occurring in Asia, the quality of supply chain management in that region has a global impact. Which companies there are the best at this critical skill? According to Gartner Inc., it's Samsung Electronics.

The research firm recently released its rankings of the top supply chain organizations headquartered in the Asia Pacific region. Gartner selected its top performers based on revenue growth, return on assets, inventory turns, and peer opinion.

Debashis Tarafdar, Gartner's Singapore-based research director, said that the companies with the best supply chains in Asia Pacific have demonstrated capabilities in demand management, operational excellence, and innovation. "They are using best practices, including demand sensing and shaping, segmentation, and collaboration to help manage demand volatility and deliver predictable results," he said in a release announcing the survey results.

Tarafdar added that these companies use metrics that are aligned with overall business objectives to measure supply chain performance. In addition, they build resiliency into supply chain network design and implement risk management strategies across trading partner networks.
