Brussels/Miami/Mumbai, January 18, 2022 - ECU Worldwide, the world leader in Less-than Container Load (LCL) ocean freight consolidation, and global multi-modal logistics company today announced the appointment of industry veteran Marc Meier as Country Manager, ECU Worldwide Germany and Regional Head for the Central Eastern Europe region, based in Hamburg, Germany. Marc Meier takes over from Thomas C. Heydorn, who will now take on the role of Global Head: Operations and Process Transformation.
A global logistics professional with over 30 years of experience, Marc joins from DHL Global Forwarding where he was an Executive Committee Member of the DHL Ocean Freight Board and the Asia Pacific Management Board of DHL Global Forwarding, based in Singapore and Hong Kong.
Tim Tudor, CEO ECU Worldwide said, “I am delighted to have Marc join our Europe management leadership team of ECU Worldwide. He comes with a wealth of industry knowledge, a proven track record, and strategic understanding of ECU Worldwide as a business partner. The pandemic, in the last two years, has laid bare the criticality of our industry and revealed opportunities for accelerated growth. Bolstering our management team is in line with our strategic digitalization and growth agenda.”
ECU Worldwide continues to hire experienced leaders in different regions, reviewing processes and investing in digitalization to leverage the immense business potential the Nordic/European region has to offer. The company bet on digital technology way before the pandemic and accelerated the pace of growth in the past two years. The company’s proprietary ECU360 – a state-of-the-art digital logistics platform for single-window shipping - accepts bookings, processes transactions, and tracks freight globally to facilitate seamless services and offer more direct trade lanes that are essential for LCL freight.
Marc Meier, Country Manager, ECU Worldwide Germany and Regional Head for the Central Eastern Europe region, “ECU Worldwide continues to lead the global LCL ocean freight consolidation, and its investments in the past years have positioned the company to further expand its services to eCommerce companies and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to leverage global growth opportunities. I am excited to join a team of like-minded, committed professionals, who, like many in our industry, have demonstrated commendable resilience in these times by investing strategically in building right technology platforms and multi-modal capabilities to overcome future challenges.”
Marc is a veteran in the LCL industry. In 2008, he was appointed as Senior Vice President Ocean Freight and Head of Global Less-than-Container for DHL Global Forwarding. He helped the Group catapult its LCL business to become the largest LCL operator among the international logistics players and significantly expanded Danmar Lines, DHL’s Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier (NVOCC). Prior to joining ECU Worldwide, he was Global Head of International Supply Chain (ISC) in DHL Global Forwarding - helming the organization of over 1000 supply chain experts in 82 offices across 46 countries where he boosted the profitability of the organization to a large extent.
