Talk to us

Four years ago, we launched CSCMP's Supply Chain Quarterly to provide thought leadership to supply chain professionals at all levels of experience and education. Since that time the magazine's stature has grown. Just recently, for instance, the American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE), a national organization of business journalists, commended the magazine for its editorial excellence. ASBPE awarded our special issue on the state of logistics, first produced in 2010, a gold medal for best special supplement. And this column, "Perspective," earned a gold award for best regular department.

Although it's certainly heartening to know that our fellow editors recognize the hard work of The Quarterly's editorial team, at the end of the day, it's you, the reader, who count most of all. That's why I wanted to remind you that we encourage your feedback and invite your participation in our efforts.

Why are we asking you to get involved? To begin with, this magazine consists in large part of contributions from experts who want to share their insights and knowledge about supply chain practices with their peers. If you are doing something new and innovative, we hope you will consider writing an article about it. We ask prospective authors to submit a thesis statement—a brief (two or three sentences) summary of the key argument of the proposed article. If we think that the thesis would result in a groundbreaking article advancing new ideas about supply chain management, then we will ask for an outline; if we accept the outline, then we'll give the go-ahead to write the article.

The submission process is intended to be rigorous. Moreover, we are very selective about what we accept for publication. If all that doesn't faze you and you have an intriguing idea for an article, please contact me.

We also want your feedback. A few weeks after each issue is published, we send out a survey via e-mail. Although we realize that supply chain professionals are very busy, we hope you will take just a few minutes out of your schedule to rate the articles and departments that appear in the magazine. Your feedback helps us ensure that the magazine includes information that is both important and relevant to you.

Finally, if you ever have any specific comment—positive or negative—about the content of Supply Chain Quarterly, please feel free to contact me by e-mail. Your comments do influence what topics and subject areas are covered in the magazine.

So let us hear from you. With your help we can continue our mission of producing a first-rate journal dedicated to supply chain thought leadership.
