Washington, D.C., November 5, 2020: The Roosevelt Group (TRG), a government affairs and strategic advocacy firm specializing in defense, intelligence, and national security, announced today that Major General Stephen Farmen (U.S Army Ret.) has joined the firm as a Senior Advisor.
General Farmen is an expert in transportation and logistics who is known for generating innovative solutions to complex problems, increasing productivity, leading change, challenging status quo, and delivering results. His visionary leadership will provide strategic direction and alignment of purpose, profit margins, and future possibilities for our clients.
“We are honored to have General Farmen join our team as a Senior Advisor,” said John Simmons, a Roosevelt Group managing partner. “Steve is a multi-faceted leader with extensive experience driving diverse, complex global organizations, spending his entire service at the General Officer level in command. He brings a vast, fresh network of relationships, partnerships, and friendships into the TRG quiver, which can help advance key initiatives for our current and future clients.”
General Farmen brings a unique set of skills to The Roosevelt Group and its clients after 34 years in the Army. Prior to his retirement last month, General Farmen served as the 21st Commanding General of the U.S. Army Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC), the Army Service Component Command to the U.S. Transportation Command and a Major Subordinate Command to U.S. Army Materiel Command. SDDC provides deployment and distribution capabilities to meet national objectives.
“With my command time at the enterprise level and experience on the Army Staff and Joint Staff, I believe I can open the aperture to opportunities and provide unique perspectives and options for our client base both inside and outside DoD” said General Farmen. “As a Senior Advisor with The Roosevelt Group, I’m eager to engage with my TRG teammates and clients to help develop and deliver creative solutions to our national security challenges. My insights into supply chain logistics, transportation, international/foreign military sales, acquisition, and program integration underpin many different clients and projects TRG is working now, and those to come in the future.”
General Farmen graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Richmond, VA and a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College. He was the first-ever U.S. Army War College Fellow at the Center for Transportation and Logistics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
