Key Technology of Seamless Steel Pipe in the Production Process

October 11, 2019
No Comments

In the process of production of cold-formed seamless steel tubes, the key technologies are mainly in four aspects: high-frequency welding technology, forming technology, cutting technology and rapid roll changing technology. It is important to know that these technologies directly affect the quality and productivity of the seamlessly formed seamless steel pipe products produced. Let's take a look at the specific content below.

First of all, let's take a look at the molding technology aspect of one of the key technologies in the production of seamless steel tubes. From the analysis of the technology of this cold-formed steel, we will find that the round-shaped process is mainly used in the foreign production process.
In comparison, the advantage of this process is that the residual stress of the finished steel pipe is small and the radius of the corner arc is small. However, its disadvantage is that the energy consumption is high, the cost is high, and the surface quality is not ideal.

So, what is the second key technology, high-frequency welding technology? This technology can also be divided into two types, namely induction welding and contact welding. In comparison, the latter is more efficient than the former and can be about 50% higher. However, its shortcoming is that it is necessary to change the contacts frequently, and the pipe is required to be formed well, otherwise it is easy to spark. More seriously, after a long time, the seamless steel pipe may also have corrosion problems.

Next, let's take a look at the third key technical aspect, cutting technology. As we all know, cold-formed seamless steel pipes need to be cut according to the situation after sizing.

Traditionally, the cutting method used is a circular saw, but nowadays it has been replaced with a more advanced cutting technology, which not only reduces the problem of burrs, but also reduces noise.

The last key technology is called the quick roll change technology. When it is conventionally processed, it takes a large amount of time to perform a large roll of the entire line. Nowadays, it has been replaced by a quick roll change technology, which can complete the roll change work required for the replacement of the product in 90 minutes, greatly improving the work efficiency and ensuring the production precision of the seamless steel pipe product.
