Coesia demonstrates commitment to sustainable pouching technology at PACK EXPO Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (Sept. 23, 2019) - Coesia Group (www.coesia.com), showcases its focus on sustainable packaging solutions at PACK EXPO Las Vegas 2019. Booth C-4400 features the VOLPAK SI-280 horizontal-form-fill-seal pouching machine, one of the only machines on the market capable of running recyclable packaging materials. This capability exemplifies the goal of the VOLPAK PouchLAB, the company's new research and development center dedicated to developing sustainable pouch solutions.

"The SI-280 is a real-world example of the industry's best efforts to create sustainable solutions, a truly no-compromise machine that combines connectivity and high performance with the versatility to run recyclable packaging materials," says Abe Lagunas, Product Manager, VOLPAK America. "But that's only the beginning. Our PouchLAB brings together players across the industry to test newly developed materials and equipment to make consumer goods as eco-friendly as possible."

Earlier this year, VOLPAK introduced a brand-new, patent-pending packaging technology that allows customers to produce flexible pouches made of 100% recyclable material, both in plastic and an innovative paper-based film. It is available on new machines and can also be installed on existing VOLPAK equipment as an upgrade, enabling existing production lines to now use exclusively recyclable material. The retrofit offers sealing sequence and equipment improvements, and includes access to a variety of new pouch design formats.

Flexible pouch designs eliminate the need for plastic labels by printing directly on the pack, allowing companies to shift away from unrecyclable materials. Flexible pouches are also fundamentally less wasteful than rigid containers, saving energy and cost in production and transportation due to their lighter weight.

VOLPAK is the global leader in form-fill-seal solutions for the pouch packaging industry and offers the most innovative solutions on the market. VOLPAK is part of Coesia, a group of innovation-based industrial and packaging solutions companies operating globally and headquartered in Bologna, Italy.
