CME Extends R.I. Jobs Training Program

April 11, 2019
No Comments

CME Corp (CME), a comprehensive healthcare equipment provider and turn-key logistics company, today announced the extension of its Real Jobs program in partnership with the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training to continue providing on-the-job training for hard-to-fill roles in biomedical engineering and information technology (IT).
This is CME's fourth year in the program, and it has been a highly successful partnership, resulting in 80 percent of the trainees securing full-time positions at CME. At the end of each two- or three-year program, the candidates also earn an Associate's Degree from the Community College of Rhode Island.

"This training program is a win-win for the candidate, our company and the state as a whole," said Eric Robinson, CME's Vice President of Operations. "They are trained in the field to handle all types of situations and taught excellent customer service skills. This team operates as an extension of our full-time staff and will greatly improve CME's ability to provide services while helping create good jobs for the future."

The Real Jobs program is designed to ensure that Rhode Island employers have the talent they need to compete and grow while providing targeted education and skills training for workers. Having a strong need for biomedical engineering and IT personnel due to surging demand for these services as well as the company's growing national footprint, CME and its clients have benefited greatly from the partnership.
Additionally, CME partnered with a secondary organization, Year Up, to help train individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. This creates a pipeline of qualified talent, while also employing people in high-demand, high-skills jobs that they may not have access to otherwise.

Biomedical services quickly have become some of the most vital to healthcare systems. When installed, calibrated and maintained correctly, appropriate equipment can save hospitals time and money and enable clinicians in their efforts to facilitate better patient outcomes. The nationwide shortage of qualified biomedical technicians has created a growing demand for CME's complete suite of biomedical services

With the extension of the Real Jobs program, CME looks to continue training in the current two IT and biomedical engineering tracks, while adding programs in advanced business solutions. This includes training in data analysis, customer service and marketing.
