Leading global logistics provider DB Schenker has appointed Hessel Verhage, 47, as new CEO for the Region Americas effective August 1, 2019. Verhage will report to DB Schenker CEO Jochen Thewes and will be responsible for 24 countries in North, Central, and South America.
Thewes says: "We are very pleased to have found a top manager for this crucial job who will approach this challenging position with enthusiasm and commitment. Verhage will be responsible for a region which is both extensive and versatile."
Hessel Verhage, native from the Netherlands, has more than 26 years of freight forwarding and logistics experience and served most recently as CEO of STG Holdings, a private equity backed company that has made eight logistics focused acquisitions in the Americas in the last three years. Prior to this, Verhage serviced as Global Co-President at logistics company UTi and was, among others, Chief Executive Officer for Global Link Logistics, a global freight forwarder.
Verhage started in the logistics business in 1994 as a forklift driver at a Container Freight Station. He has also served in the U.S. Army during Operation Desert Storm and holds a B.S. degree in economics from East Carolina University.
