Ritrama, a leading Italian multinational in the production of self-adhesive materials, chose Ferretto Group's technological and innovative solutions for its new automated warehouse located in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The structure built by the Italian company has an area of over 5,000 square meters and is equipped with 6 stacker cranes with different pick-up tools: 2 equipped with forks, 2 with shuttles with forks, and with 2 standard shuttles. Already in use for about 70% of the warehouse, the entire structure will be fully operational by the end of summer 2018. Among the characteristics which distinguish this storage system is its high level of automation for the handling of both inbound and outbound material through the company's ERP interface and an LGV (Laser Guided Vehicle) system.
Miguel Fabra, CEO of Ferretto Group highlights that "We have responded to Ritrama's requests with a significant project characterized by a high level of innovation. For our Group it was a significant step toward the achievement of our global growth objectives, which are our focus at present, especially as regards the USA. The latter is an important market, which we want to approach offering high quality solutions entirely designed and produced by our Group".
Begun in July 2016, the storage system involved 30 highly skilled technicians who created an approximately 126,000 cubic meter automated warehouse for the management of the reels of raw material, their handling towards the production area, the storage of the semi-finished product and, in some cases, of the finished product. The structure is 180 meters long, 28 meters wide and 25 meters high, and will have a capacity of about 17,000 load units. Its operation will be completely centralized.
