Supply chain excellence drives shareholder value, but not all supply chain managers understand the connection and incorporate it into their jobs, goals, and objectives, according to researchers at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
Leaders at the school's Haslam College of Business emphasize the link between supply chain excellence and a company's financial performance in a recently published white paper titled "Driving Shareholder Value with your Supply Chain."
The fourth in a strategy series published by the College's Global Supply Chain Institute, the paper offers self-assessment tools, best practices, and case studies aimed at helping supply chain leaders better understand the need to speak the language of finance and view supply chain success through the lens of cost, cash, and growth. The paper was sponsored by supply chain consultant Maine Pointe and written by J. Paul Dittmann, assistant head of the Department of Supply Chain Management at Haslam, and Dan Pellathy of Grand Valley State University, Michigan.
