Infor rolls out internet of things analytics platform

Business software vendor Infor on Tuesday announced the availability of a cloud-based Internet of Things (IoT) platform that the company says can deliver supply chain services like exception detection, workflows, reporting, data analytics, and artificial intelligence (AI).

At its Inforum user conference in Washington, D.C., this week, New York-based Infor said the Infor IoT product can ingest IoT sensor data securely and at scale from any location. Infor said the platform achieves this by synchronizing the IoT sensor inputs with information from enterprise asset management (EAM) transactional data.

The system also provides analytics of the data through Birst, a cloud-based platform for networked business intelligence and data visualization that Infor added to its portfolio when it acquired San Francisco-based Birst Inc. in 2017. The Birst platforms allows users to aggregate data from IoT devices, model it into metric frameworks, and then apply the results to improve variables like operational efficiency, safety and compliance, and sales and marketing effectiveness.

Infor delivers the IoT platform through a multi-tenant, cloud-based deployment through Amazon Web Services (AWS).

The rollout follows Infor's announcement at the show that it had launched a supply chain visibility software product called Infor Control Center that combines data from the company's GT Nexus Commerce Network with Infor's Coleman Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities.
