SCM World is accepting entries for its Power of the Profession Awards

The supply chain organization SCM World is founded on the principle that supply chain management can not only improve a company's profits but also help to support the greater good. For the past four years, the organization has been recognizing real-world supply chain initiatives that have accomplished this dual goal with its Power of the Profession Awards.

Last week, SCM World, which describes itself as a "cross-industry supply chain community" and is owned by the analyst group Gartner, announced that it is now accepting entries for its 2018 awards through August 11, 2017.

The awards are open to all businesses worldwide that own, operate, or manage a supply chain. A panel of judges, which will include C-level executives from companies including Burberry, Dyson, Microsoft, Nike, Intel, and more, will be looking for ground-breaking programs in two categories: Talent Breakthrough and Supply Chain Breakthrough.

Entrants for the Talent Breakthrough category will be asked to demonstrate supply chain initiatives that have an impact on three key areas; diversity and engagement, business results, and the overall value chain.

Those companies competing in the Supply Chain Breakthrough category must have launched strategic initiatives that delivered value to customers and shareholders while also making a positive impact on critical world issues such as access to health care, distribution of food, and environmental sustainability.

Last year's Power of the Profession Award winners include The Hershey Company, Bayer, The Clorox Company, Hilti, Mondelēz International, and General Mills.

The 18 finalists will be revealed at SCM World's Live Europe Forum in Barcelona, Spain, on Octoober 30, 2017. The overall winners will then be announced at SCM World's Live Americas Forum on February 5, 2018 in Miami. Fla.
