Each year at its annual conference, CSCMP presents two of its most prestigious awards. This year, Robert Martichenko, chief executive officer of LeanCor Supply Chain Group, received the 2015 Distinguished Service Award, and Jason Miller, an assistant professor of supply chain management at Colorado State University, was the recipient of the 2015 Doctoral Dissertation Award.

CSCMP's Distinguished Service Award is bestowed upon an individual for significant achievements in and contributions to the supply chain management profession.

Martichenko is well known for his contributions to the study and practice of lean logistics and supply chain operations. Early in his career, he recognized the need to integrate lean principles and techniques across the entire value chain, and founded LeanCor Supply Chain Group in 2005 with that in mind. The company offers training and education, consulting, and outsourced logistics services, with a focus on lean supply chain transformation. (Watch for Supply Chain Quarterly's interview with Martichenko in our Q4 issue.)

Miller was honored for his dissertation, "Delivery Services Performed by Personnel Without Direct Supervision: Three Essays." His research examines various relationships within motor carrier operations, such as those between electronic monitoring and carrier safety, and between electronic monitoring and collective truck driver turnover. Miller received his doctorate from The Ohio State University, where he majored in logistics and minored in quantitative psychology.
